What is the Pacific Forest Rally?
During the 70's and 80's the Pacific Forest Rally was a fixture on the national rally calendar.  Revived once again in 2000, today the event is based in Merritt, just 2.5 hours east of Vancouver.  In a short time the Pacific Forest Rally has re-established itself as a favourite event with both competitors and fans alike.  Despite holding the rally in mid-June, extreme mountain conditions arise to challenge the drivers, as dirt, rock and even snow test their driving skill.  Being the fifth event of the Canadian Rally Championship, and the third in succession here in Western Canada, the Pacific Forest Rally comes mid-way through the current championship season.  Some of the local teams will be well on their way to challenging the eastern-based crews for the championship lead, virtually guaranteeing a spectacle of competitive driving.
Our team of organizers is dedicated to making this event one of the best in western North America.  Their professionalism and thoroughness ensure that every aspect of the event is just right.  The reputation of our group and the picturesque setting in the Nicola Valley have helped achieve instant success, as fans and competitors continue to flock to this event.  We are expecting a strong field of at least 35 teams from across Canada and the USA to compete in the rally in 2003.
The Pacific Forest Rally is well on its way to becoming the premiere event in Western Canada.  In a short time we have established a top-level spectacle that meets the requirements of the Canadian National Championship.  However, this achievement alone is not enough - our goal is to make this event something that fans, the local community and our corporate partners will all be excited about and proud to be a part of.  The next phase in reaching this objective is to grow the participation of fans, volunteers  and competitors by creating an environment that simply demands attendance.  We want to create a festival-like atmosphere that simply captivates and enthralls the public.
Last year fans were introduced to our main spectating area at Active Mountain, home of the Merritt Mountain Music Festival.  The Active Mountain area features a highly visible network of twisting gravel roads close to Merritt and with great access for fans. This unique-in-North America rally venue allows people to get out and see several kilometers of continuous rally action.  In taking this venue to the next level, we will be creating a festival-like atmosphere with on-sight concessions, easy parking and radio announcements.
Through our primary communication tools-the event web site (www.pacificforestrally.com), Spectator Guide, and Rally Poster-we provide accurate and up-to-the-minute information to fans, competitors and the media.
