| Team MaNicK was founded in 2001 as Team MNK (Massimo and Nicolas Karting) and in cooperation with Old School Motorsports, comprises a group of motorsports enthusiasts that wish to foster fair competition in a variety sports including karting, ice racing, road racing, and performance rally.
Now competing in the Canadian and Ontario Rally Championships, Team MaNicK has fielded the youngest rally team in the sport and hopes to continue to be competitive in its quest for rally experience with the goal of competing in an open class car in the near future.
Given that the crew is comprised of teenagers, we feel that the combination of peer pressure, enthusiasm for speed, and respect for fellow competitors, has positioned us well to speak out against hazardous road use behaviour, such as street racing, and hence our "MaNicK at School - road safety initiative" was born. In cooperation with several other agencies, the Durham Youth Road Safety Coalition was founded in 2007. With 'Lacy', we are bringing to high schools the messages of respect for fellow road users, passenger responsibilities, and of course, condemnation of street racing.
'Lacy' was prepared with the engineering, preparation and tuning knowledge and experience of Old School Motorsport and Chris Martin, and with further engineering and manufacturing support from Matt at MinchSpeed, we hope to be both competitive and entertaining.
An early "oops" on day one of Targa Newfoundland put us out of contention for a top finish but the crew and Lacy put in some spectacular stage times and did complete all 39 stages of Targa 2007.
MaNicK at School sticker are now available. Speak out against street racing and display one on your car. For further information on MaNicK at School or our team, please contact us at: TeamMaNicK @ Canada.com. |
